Chinese New Year...

Today is the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and I was so busy with preparing food and enjoy the reunion dinner with my family member.  And this is why I don't have much time to make any new card for the past whole week.

Now most of the things are settle down and I'm starting to make some new cards soon.

I hope that all of you do enjoy the Chinese New Year too.

East & West...

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #34

Today I specially made this card for one of my good friend.  She received a little good news about her future this morning and I'm feel so happy for her.

When I reached home today I decided to make this card for her to give her the support and also at the same time I wish her a Happy Chinese New Year.  Ha ha...guess what...this is the first Chinese New Year card that I have made.  I'm not too sure whether there will be a second one coming...

I used this Japanese Doll that I just bought from JDA, this is from Hero Arts 2009 new release.  I just like the little dolls and I wanted her to be the first one to receive it...I hope she will like it and all the best for 2009, year of Cow... moooooo....moooo.....

My friend likes purple color so I added the purple color on the Kimono and the rest are all red because red is the color for Chinese New Year...mmooooo...mmmoooooo....

I Like Pearl...

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #33

I get this idea from Hero Arts sometime ago when this stamp was released and I just liked the idea...I'm so glad that finally I got the chance to make it.  :-)

Why I think about doing this is because I managed to get a very good deal for the pearl...lol...
Yesterday I was lingering around Bt. Panjang Plaza and I decided to walk into Minitoon for a round and once I stepped in the shop a packet of pearl was catching my eyes.  This pearl is in a packet of 100pcs and is only at S$2.50...what should I wait for...of course I grabbed it and straight away went to the cashier and pay for it.

This pearl is actually for people to decorate their cellphone, MP3, PDA, sunglasses, mirror, notebook and so on...and I will help them to add in one more function here...which is card making...kekekekeke.....

Look at the tree...it looks so elegant right?

I used the Quickutz dies and rub-ons for the wording...

For final touch-up I added the Platinum Stickles at the bottom to "lighten up" the card.  It was totally different before and after I completed.
I just like to whole idea, colors and the layout of the card.
What a great sketch from Sketch Saturday...and looking forward the next challenge.

Wish...

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Dawnys Sketch #6
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Pink & Brown

Pink and Brown are quite a good combination...is easy to match and brown is one of my favourite colors.  This week I choose pattern paper from DCWV and I match with a special texture paper with Chinese character.  I bought this paper sometime ago from Spotlight and you know what...those Chinese characters are the Chinese last name character.

If you know how to read Chinese below is the close-up for you read the Chinese character.  I like this texture paper and so coincidentally I saw my last name character 严 on the paper...

This paper came in many colors, so far I have navy blue, black and red.

Tutorial - Shaker Card

After cut out the chipboard into the frame shape that you like, paste it on the reverse side of the pattern paper.

Make a cross in the center and cut it with a pen knife.

After cutting the cross fold it inward and glue it.  The glue that I used was from Plaid's Mod Podge.

Cut away the extra.

Trim the four corners.

After that apply glue and fold inward.

Here you get the fame shape with pattern paper.

This step you need to paste it onto a clear acetate.  I use the same glue from Plaid.
You can use double sided tape as well.

Trim away the extra acetate and paste the foam double sided tape at the back of the frame.  This is to create a room for the beads, glitters as the shaker mix.

Here is the step for you to put in the beads, glitters and others that can make the shaker mix to the frame.  After that paste the image that you would like as the background.

That it is, you can shake and play with it now.
Is very simple right?

Shaker Card

Friday Sketchers #34
StamARTic - Shaker Card
BasicGrey Challenge 17 - Chipboard
I made this card for 3 challenges and this is my first time trying the Shaker Card.  It is fun to do the Shaker Card and you can play with the card after you have completed.

So try it out today and later on I will post the tutorial to show you how to make a simple Shaker.

I use the same BasicGrey pattern paper as last challenge but this time I used the different side of the paper.
I don't have many chipboard here so I used a blank Chipboard cut into the frame shape to make the Shaker's frame.  I wrap the chipboard with the pink strip patten paper and match with the silver ribbon at both side.

This stamp is from Penny Black's latest clear stamp release.  I choose this image because it matching with the shaker card's idea.

When you shake the card the two butterflies will "fly" around.

I'm going to post the tutorial and you can try to make one for yourself too.

English Cottage

Challenge 16 - First Sketch of 2009

This is an old stamp that I just got from JDA and is from Penny Black 1997.

I decided to make a card for Miyuki's mother because her mother likes to do flower pressing and she owned a small garden in Japan.

Now she is in Singapore with Miyuki now and I made this card for her base on this stamp...an English Cottage which is also her favourite.

I passed the card to Miyuki yesterday and this morning she told me that her mother was so surprise with card and she loved it very much.  I'm so happy to hear that she liked the card.

Pattern paper that I used were from BasicGrey, Bittersweet's Rocky Road. This is one of my favorite now and it matched so well with the English Cottage and the Green cardstock.  I decided to go to Made with Love one more round to collect all the series.
